Every year I take part in a fundraiser to maximize awareness through events and social solidarity.  The money that I raise through these activities goes directly to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides against Breast Cancer Foundation.

We raise money in order to get treatment information and testing awareness spread to the public in order to help prevent late stage diagnosis.  We also provide support structures for those going through treatment, including cooking them meals if they are too ill to leave their houses, getting them in touch with cosmeticians and wig-makers in order to ensure that they do not lose their feelings of humanity and self-respect while going through a brutal and merciless bodily transformation, and organizing transportation to and from their appointments so that they do not have to worry about finding rides.  These support structures help greatly to alleviate what for most is the most terrifying and difficult battle of their lives, that to continue living in the face of death.

Because of my efforts and those of others who support this important cause, the American Cancer Society can conduct innovative research, educate people on how to reduce their risk for breast cancer or detect it early, and provide crucial patient programs like free rides to treatment, or places to stay when treatment is far from home. Your donation could help someone who is currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face a future diagnosis, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether thanks to education and prevention.
