We have all heard the saying that "A picture is worth 1000 words."  I feel that a picture can capture emotions well but not on the scale that reading  offers.  All written works in the English language use the same 26 letters, only in different combinations and orders.  The complexity of a well written book can instill in a reader a depth of feeling which can alter that person's life or perspective.  Below are a few of the books which I have found most influential or moving in my life, with further expansion into genres that I read purely for enjoyment.  The pages for Fantasy and Science Fiction cover series which I recommend in their respective categories.  Clicking on a picture will take you to the corresponding Wikipedia site with more information about each one.
